SunTour Ultra 6 cogs
Thank you for carrying SunTour Ultra 6 cogs. I have 3 of the bodies and lots of small cogs, from the late 70's and 1981 and you are the only company that actually has individual cogs, (that i know of). I also wanted a 32 tooth cog but you did not have that available and likely never will as they are not being manufactured any more. I have three old frames/bikes, two with 120 mm rear spacing and one with 127 mm rear spacing and as I have aged in the last 40 years, I need bigger cogs and much lower gears. (The SunTour system with 6 cogs in the space of 5 normal cogs/freewheel, was a major technical advance in the late 70's. The Ultra 6 freewheel was about a 1 mm wider than a normal 5 speed freewheel and so I put another 1 mm washer on the axle, freewheel side, to make the OLD 121 mm, so that there was adequate clearance for the smallest cog, normally a 13T, with the rear dropout and chain stay. In my opinion, the next major advance was with the Shimano 8 speed cassettes, late '92, early '93 and my newest bikes are from 1993 with 3x8 gearing, resulting in 15 or 16 different usable gears. Thank you for having "Retro" parts so many can keep old bikes and bodies on the road. Bernard Ivanco
vintage cogs and more!
Very happy I found this site. Got the NOS vintage Suntour cog that I had been looking for and also found a worn-in Brooks saddle as well. Thanks hoopriderparts.com
